Biography
Glen Cook was born in New York City. He began writing in grade school, and in high school he wrote for his school's newspaper. After high school, he spent time in the United States Navy and later worked his way through college, leaving little time for writing. In 1970 he attended the Clarion Writer's Workshop and began his writing career. At the same time he worked at a General Motors light truck assembly plant, a second occupation he kept until his retirement from GM. His first published novel, The Heirs of Babylon, was published in 1973. He is best know for three fantasy fiction series, the Black Company series about an elite mercenary unit, and the Garrett P.I. series, about a hardboiled detective Garrett. He lives with his wife, Carol, in St. Louis, Missouri.
